Is obstacle avoidance reliable?

Modern obstacle avoidance systems are highly effective in many flying conditions and significantly improve flight safety. However, they are not perfect and can still be affected by:

• Poor lighting
• Thin branches or wires
• Reflective surfaces
• Fog, rain, or smoke
• Fast flight speeds

Pilots should still maintain visual awareness and avoid relying entirely on automated systems.
