Buying guide · Which Avata

DJI Avata 2 or the original Avata?

Both are cinewhoop-class FPV drones built around full propeller guards — made to fly through doorways and shoot signature interior flythroughs. The Avata 2 is the current model with better cameras and the latest goggles; the original Avata remains a lower-cost route into FPV while stock lasts.

DJI Avata — common questions

Avata 2 or the original Avata — which should I buy?

Buy the Avata 2 for the newer cameras, lighter Goggles 3 and current controllers. Choose the original Avata to get into FPV for less while stock remains — the guarded, crash-tolerant flying is similar.

Do I need goggles and a licence to fly FPV?

FPV flight uses goggles, and UK rules require a competent observer to keep visual line of sight on the drone while you’re in the goggles. You’ll also need CAA registration. We can advise on the setup.

What’s a cinewhoop, and what’s it for?

A cinewhoop is a small FPV drone with built-in propeller guards, designed to fly fast, close to objects and through tight spaces — ideal for immersive interior and action flythroughs.

Which combo should I choose?

Drone-only suits pilots who already own compatible goggles; the Fly Smart and Fly More combos add goggles, controller and extra batteries — the simplest complete starting point.
